Numerical Simulation of River–Lake Aquatic Ecosystems
Building a multi-scale coupled hydrodynamic–water-quality–ecology model system that forms a model–observation–intelligence digital-twin loop.
For complex engineered waters and operating scenarios, this direction builds a multi-scale coupled hydrodynamic–water-quality–ecology model system (1D/2D/3D) on platforms such as CE-QUAL-W2, Delft3D and EFDC, resolving stratification and density currents, nutrient cycling, phytoplankton competition and deposition–resuspension. It fuses long-term monitoring, enclosure experiments and UAV/satellite remote sensing, reduces uncertainty through data assimilation (EnKF/4D-Var), proposes Zeu/Zmix-threshold bloom-risk identification and scenario simulation, and supports eco-hydrological operation through multi-objective optimisation. Key tasks include bloom forecasting, ecosystem-process research and watershed water-resource optimisation.
