Current PhD and Master students, active at the frontline of ecological-hydraulics research.

Ph.D. Students

Outstanding young scholars exploring frontiers of hydraulic science

01
X

Xu Yaqian

Ph.D. Student, Wuhan University

Born 1992, from Hanchuan, Hubei. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in civil and hydraulic engineering at Wuhan University, focusing on water-resource protection and efficient use; her master’s, from Hubei University of Technology, addressed the ecological effects and ecological operation of large reservoirs, and included a short visit to Portland State University. As a core member she has joined 7 national projects and published 4 papers in SCI/EI and core journals.

W

Wei Chenyu

Ph.D. Student, Wuhan University

Born 1993, from Harbin. He is pursuing a Ph.D. at Wuhan University in river–lake protection and management, studying the interactions between algal blooms and dissolved-gas components in water. He has published several SCI/EI papers and holds 2 invention patents.

Z

Zeng Yiheng

Ph.D. Student, China Three Gorges University

Born 1997, from Yichang, Hubei. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in hydraulic engineering at China Three Gorges University. His master’s work concerned water-environment quality management in the Yanghe basin; he now studies the degradation mechanisms of riparian and wetland vegetation, with two papers published and one patent.

W

Wan Ziming

Ph.D. Student, China Three Gorges University

Born 1998, from Huanggang, Hubei. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in hydraulic engineering at China Three Gorges University. His master’s research covered deep-foundation construction risk and reservoir tributary denitrification flux; he now studies the dissolved-oxygen balance and ecosystem classification of the Three Gorges Reservoir.

P

Peng Zekang

Ph.D. Student, Hubei University of Technology

Born 2000, from Xinhua, Hunan. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in civil engineering at Hubei University of Technology. His master’s work developed non-contact methods for rapid identification of solution concentration using machine-learning models; he now studies how turbulence microstructure regulates bubble–microalgae aggregates and their effect on vertical algal migration.
